The Importance of Upgrades in World of Warcraft
Upgrades are a different kind of item that provides an increase to your stats. They can be used to upgrade trinkets, armor and weapons.
Item upgrades use a system called "upgrade pity" to determine probabilities. This system is designed to minimize the risk of losing money and offer an insurance policy when you upgrade.
Armor
The item upgrader lets players upgrade the equipment level of their armor, trinkets and weapons. The upgrades are applied to the gear by visiting an upgrader NPC with appropriate currencies. Upgrading an item will also increase the stats on the item.
This NPC can be found in all major cities and is located in the corner of the city square, near a teleport point. The NPC can be used to upgrade any type of armor, weapon or trinket with the exception of items that require an adventure to acquire or craft.
Note: The device you use to apply an upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time. You are not able to apply multiple upgrades to one piece. If you try to do this, the previous upgrade will be replaced.
Upgrade your equipment is a great way to make the most of your gear and increase your damage, survival and overall power. If you have Benthic gear that was obtained through the War Within Mythic Dungeon it will be at ilvl 385 and is upgradeable using [Prismatic manapearlsor [Prismatic manapearls]. Upgrades to PvE equipment are available to all accounts. Upgrades to your PvP equipment require the use of a specific currency, like [Valorstones] or [Harbinger Crests[Harbinger Crests]. The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade additional pieces of gear in the same armor slot is reduced after the first upgrade of the equipment.
Weapons
Weapons are an important element of any successful character. They can be used to fend off an evil monster, kill an intruder, or win a target-shooting competition. Or they can simply hang on the wall. Regardless of how you plan on using a particular weapon, you should keep in mind that it can be upgraded and will evolve according to your style of play.
Upgrades to weapons can be made by visiting a blacksmith shop that has a Weapon Workbench. It is located in the right-hand side of the Roundtable Hold hub area, Blacksmith Hewg is an excellent option to upgrade your primary weapon. Iji is a Smithing Master located in the northwestern region, "Road to the Manor" located in Liurna. Smithing Master Iji upgrades both armor and weapons.
As a rule upgrading an item will increase the level of its weapon by 5. Azerite weapons (see below) or other weapons with special abilities will have their ilvl increase by 15 for all upgrades. The player can only have one upgrade in play at any one time. If you try to upgrade a weapon when another upgrade is applied the upgrade will fail and the weapon will be restored to its original level.
In addition to increasing the item level of a weapon, an upgrade will also grant it additional stats that can be used to boost its power. Some of these upgrades are passive, while others will provide more damage, faster attacks, increased range, or critical strike chances.
Ashes of War weapons are awarded when certain bosses in raids are defeated. Whetblades are rare items which unlock new Affinities for weapons.
When a weapon is upgraded the weapon will continue to receive upgrades in the event that the player has the proper upgrade materials and currency on hand. It's important to know that weapons can only be upgraded up to a maximum of ilvl 25. This means that players should only upgrade their weapons once they've accumulated the maximum amount of upgrades from regular and Whetblade items.
Trinkets
Trinkets are a special item that provide a wide variety of Boosts. upgrade item can be upgraded like other equipment by interacting with an item Upgrader NPC.
Stardew Valley is the place where you can locate an item upgrading tool. To use it, you must first unequip any weapons or armor that are equipped. Once you have done that, the NPC will appear with the red "Equipped" banner on his head.
You can upgrade your weapon or armor by selecting him. You must bring the currency as well as the items to the NPC. When you do, the NPC will upgrade your gear, increasing its stats by one level.

For example, the NPC in Shattering Rift offers a new toy when players defeat the Ancient Beast, while the NPC in the Eastern Guard Tower provides players with access to a unique trinket.
Set Pieces

Upgrading, or upping as it is commonly known is the process of changing a normal, unique, set or rare item into an elite version of the identical base item. This is accomplished by purchasing an upgrade component from the upgrade menu and then converting it into an upgraded base item.
This unlocks the stats that were originally locked behind that base item's requirements, or maxed out version. The increased stats make the upgraded version more valuable than its base counterpart. The maximum defense rolls and upgrade requirements for the upgraded version can be found in the tables below.
Generally, upgrading an item will increase its value, however there are exceptions. For example the item may have intrinsically high requirements that limit its uses (take Whistan's shield in Facebook sorcs as an example), or if an item has a very low base stat that could be upp'd to get an ideal or high roll, then it will only be able to see limited usage and therefore gain only a small amount of value.
